Police: Woman charged after assaulting 3-year-old at Wal-Mart

A woman was accused of shoving a 3-year-old child to the floor Saturday night in the local Wal-Mart at 6475 Gateway Road, according Columbus Police.

Authorities said the toddler, who had a broken arm and bruising prior to the incident, was treated at the Columbus Midtown Medical Center and listed in good condition.

Dominique Letrae Robinson, the suspected assailant, was arrested outside of the business at 7:20 p.m. Saturday and charged with first-degree cruelty to children and battery. She was booked into the Muscogee County Jail.

Columbus Police said Robinson clinched her fist and “knocked” the injured child to the floor in front of several Wal-Mart employees. The incident, which police described as family violence, was captured on camera, according to an arrest report.

The relationship between the suspect and victim is unclear at this time.

Robinson was scheduled to appear in Columbus Recorder’s Court today at 9 a.m. but posted bonds totaling $15,000 prior to the preliminary hearing. Her case was bound over to Superior Court.
