Columbus police investigate gunshot at Peachtree Mall

Columbus police are investigating after an apparent gunshot was fired into the floor at a kiosk at Peachtree Mall Wednesday afternoon.

Police Capt. Renee McAneny of the Patrol Services Division said no one was injured in the 7 p.m. shooting at 3131 Manchester Expressway.

McAneny said police were only able to find a rip in the carpet but no casing or bullet was located. Someone was standing at the kiosk when the incident occurred. "It must have been in a pocket and shot straight down," she said of the apparent discharge of a gun.

No one is in custody in connection with the incident as the investigation continues, McAneny said.
