Involuntary manslaughter warrant issued for Perkins
An involuntary manslaughter warrant has been issued for James Eric Perkins, 48, of Columbus, in the death of Marquis Brown.
According to police, Perkins is currently in custody in another Georgia county on unrelated charges.
That county's sheriff has been given a copy of the arrest warrant.
It was a 3 a.m. on Jan. 31 that Columbus police responded to a call to Outlaws Saloon, 6499 Veterans Parkway, in reference to a large fight in the parking lot.
Brown was discovered unconscious in the parking lot. He was transported to Midtown Medical Center and placed on life support. Later that day, he died from his injuries.
A preliminary hearing will be scheduled when Perkins returns to Columbus.
