Two men and a woman were arrested and charged Wednesday during the raid that left one man shot by an Metro Narcotics Task Force agent on Oates Avenue, Muscogee County Jail records show.

The suspects are identified as Thomas Wrenn, 33, and Twain Griffis, 48, both of Columbus, and Sarah A. Jones, 33, of Cataula. All were taken into custody at 7 a.m. during a search at 4218 Oates Ave. and booked into the Muscogee County Jail.

Wrenn faces one count of possession of a drug related object and Griffis was charged with one count of misdemeanor obstruction of a law enforcement officer. Jones was charged with possession of a drug related object and possession of a small amount of methamphetamine. Wrenn was freed after posting a $250 bond while Jones and Griffis are scheduled to appear in Recorder’s Court at 9 a.m. Friday.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called in to investigate the shooting of 36-year-old Brian Napier shortly after an agent from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office fired a shot during the 6:30 a.m. search of the home. Authorities said Napier charged toward the agent when he fired a shot, striking Napier’s left arm.

Napier is still in the hospital where he is treated for non-life threatening injuries, authorities said.

The encounter with agents occurred as they were going through the house and found a locked bedroom door. Napier was inside the room.

Three of the arrested suspects were among five other people inside the house. In a report, police said Jones was in possession of a glass smoking device and a quantity of meth residue that was removed from her bag. The suspected drug was found near her driver’s license.

Authorities said Griffis fled from law enforcement as they executed the search warrant. He was also arrested on outstanding warrants on unidentified charges.

Wrenn also was in possession of a glass smoking device during the search.

Authorities are still looking for Russell Napier after the 48-year-old man fled through a back door as agents entered the house. He was sought for the sale of meth.

In addition to the GBI investigation, a separate internal probe is underway by the Columbus Police Department’s Office of Professional Standards which is standard policy when an officer discharges a weapon.
