The Muscogee County School Board will discuss changes to its policy about public participation at board meetings at a work session Monday.
The changes are being proposed by District 8 board member Frank Myers.
The work session will be at 5 p.m. in the Muscogee County Public Education Center on Macon Road.
Changes proposed by Myers including getting rid of the requirement that the subject a person speaks on must be on the agenda, that a person can't talk about the same subject twice in six months, that the superintendent must be able to address a complaint before it is heard, that a school board member can't be criticized, and that a speaker must be as brief as possible.
Earlier this week in an email to the Ledger-Enquirer, Myers said his proposal will ensure that "every interested person will have an opportunity to fairly and fully exercise their constitutional right to free speech by giving citizens a voice at the public meetings of the Muscogee County School Board."
Nobody is listed to speak on the public agenda Monday.
