More than 350 people gathered in front of McGinnis-Wickam Hall today as Col. Leopoldo A. Quintas was promoted to brigadier general at Fort Benning.
“The event today, this promotion, is not about me,” Quintas said after his star was pinned on his shoulders by his wife, Lori, and Lt. Gen. Robert “Abe” Abrams. “It’s not about individual achievement because the Army is a team sport. Army generals are not born, they are made.”
The promotion for Quintas comes five months after he assumed duties as the 48th chief of U.S. Army Armor School in September.
With many fellow soldiers looking one, the newly promoted brigadier general said the day is really about the efforts of friends, family, subordinates, superiors and everyone who has contributed to the development and successes along the way. Everyone shares an officer’s progression to general,” he said. “Mine is certainly no different.”
