A 13-year-old hiker who went missing in Kings Canyon National Park was found Monday night.
Austin Shedd, from Carlsbad, was separated from his party while hiking from Arrow Peak to Bench Lake. The hikers planned to end their trip Monday and exit through Taboose Pass.
Park officials were alerted about 2 a.m. Monday that he was missing. A trail crew found him about 9:30 p.m. Monday.
The boy was staying in the wilderness overnight with the trail crew until he can be airlifted out Tuesday morning, the park service said.
