NCAA board hands 5 biggest conferences more power

The NCAA Division I board of directors voted Thursday in Indianapolis to approve more autonomy for the Atlantic Coast Conference and the nation’s other “Power 5” college sports conferences, which would open the door for those 65 schools to unilaterally pass measures such as financial stipends that would cover the full cost of athletes’ college attendance beyond athletic scholarships.
