Kicking a police officer in the face while drunk got one woman six months in a women's detention center.

Angel Williford, 28, pleaded guilty Thursday to obstruction of a police officer, said Assistant District Attorney Wayne Jernigan. Superior Court Judge Robert Johnston III sentenced her to six months in the facility, followed by four years and six months on probation.

The sentence was with the approval of Columbus Police Officer Tony Cooper, who was kicked in the face in late 2006 after he arrested Williford at the Uptown Tap, Jernigan said.

Cooper had been called to the Broadway bar about an intoxicated Williford making a disturbance and refusing to leave. When Cooper arrived, she still wouldn't leave and he arrested her.

"She dropped her ID card," Jernigan said. "When the officer reached down to get it, she kicked him in the face. He didn't have to go to the hospital."

The prosecutor said it took more than a year to complete a psychological evaluation on Williford, which delayed the case's conclusion.

Williford was ruled competent, Jernigan said.
