Teachers are held to a much higher standard in society than most other people but get paid far less for their backgrounds. Why is that? Did you know that most teachers have master's degrees?
A soldier can voice an opinion on a mission but then will carry out that mission even at the cost of his or her life (because that is what they do, but a teacher will get fired for expressing a personal opinion on a topic, even in this format.
DUI/DWI will get a teacher fired on moral and perceptual issues (being unprofessional). Politicians won't. Would you get fired from your job? There is no counseling for teachers; they are straightup gone.
Having a picture taken holding a beer or glass of wine will get a teacher fired. Who else can lose a job for doing that? The president can have a beer on TV and nothing is said.
Teachers are instructed to be polite to students even if the student is cursing at them, having total disrespect for them or even throwing things at them (but oh, my child would never do anything like that). Who has to put up with that behavior besides food servers and teachers? I bet it won't happen in your home.
Teachers have to dress in a somewhat professional manner and cannot wear clothes that may offend anyone of any race, religion, an individual's upbringing, life's condition, personal or cosmic "difference." But I guess students don't have to follow that norm.
So the next time you see a teacher or have meetings with them please thank them for the job that you do not do for your own children. Not just during Teacher Appreciation Week, but every day your child is in school. They deserve it.

Well, once again our school district has succeeded in disappointing its employees. Teachers/administrators with 20+ years will receive a one time $1,200 bonus, it's said that bus drivers will receive a 4% bonus, and there was a hint that clerks, secretaries and paras were to receive a pay raise, but the only thing I have learned is that the paras' time was to increase 15 extra minutes a day. Yes, that will increase our pay; however, it is not and never will be a pay raise.
Everyone in our district needs a pay raise, If our district cannot afford that, then nobody should receive one.
I want Dr. Lewis, Ms. Bratten, M. Wiggins, Mr. Baker and all the others who think they know best to come in our schools as educators for one week. Not the "good" schools, but the schools with problem children. Walk a week in our shoes. See what we are up against, not in your current position but in our position as teachers and paras.
Unilateral secession manifesto
I declare myself free of the tyranny of the United States. I am no longer a citizen of the United States. I declare their moral and legal standing to judge me to be devoid of any honor or legality. The federal government has debased itself for decades for the purpose of power and money.
Congress is no longer a legislative body; they exist solely to find ways to take my money and give it to their political pals. The President has steadily and lately quickly become a dictator. No longer bound by the Constitution that states that only Congress may make laws he has run roughshod over every legal and moral barrier that our founders placed in his way.
The Supreme Court exists only to sit back and approve of everything the powers that be want to do. The convoluted reasoning (if you can call it reason) used to turn four words, Established by the States, to mean Established by the States or the Federal Government, is the last straw.
I will continue to be a citizen of the state of Alabama. I will feel no obligation to follow any federal laws. Why should I? They don't.
I am directing this to all politicians, Democrat and Republican. If you feel the need to comment on this, go ahead, I may even read one or two. If you want to debate this then move on. I have pondered this for many years and I have finally hit the last straw. I will not debate it. Consider me in open rebellion against a tyrannical, immoral, illegal government as is my right inscribed in the U.S. Constitution, which I still believe in. It is time to make a stand. This is mine.

Congrats to SCOTUS. As of Friday's decision, there is no longer a country known as the United States of America. The former Constitution is now invalid. The Court has successfully transformed us officially to a new name, given to us by the Iranians -- "The Great Satan." We should now also be known as the United Socialism As dictated by the Far Left Extremist Terrorists. Civil rights for a tiny minority always trump religious rights in the new nation. A warning is due. Between 85 and 90 percent of the geographic country formerly known as the United States of America disagrees with the dissolution of its nation. Expect a separation of that portion of the former nation which will form a new country which will re-establish the Constitution of the former United States of America. The remaining 10-15% geographic portion cannot live under their new law, as it will be both financially and morally bankrupt immediately. Do not expect the new USA to take you back. We don't want you.
