Former Central-Phenix City standout Kelcy Luke continues to dominate at quarterback for the Alabama A&M Bulldogs.
Luke was named Southwestern Athletic Conference offensive player of the week last week for his performance against Clark-Atlanta. The senior passed for 301 yards, a personal best, and tied a school record with four touchdown passes. For the year, he is 39-of-61 passing for 562 yards and seven touchdowns. He also has one rushing touchdown.
Former Hardaway Hawk Kelvin Moore scored the game-winning touchdown for Morehouse last week against Lane College. Moore took it in from the 1-yard line with three minutes to go in the game to put the Maroon Tigers up 12-7. He has rushed 50 times for 220 yards and three touchdowns for the season.
Citadel freshman Demetrius Jackson, a Shaw graduate, helped the Bulldogs to a 76-0 win over Webber International last week, recording four tackles, one sack and a pass breakup.
Finally, Rob Varner placed 17th in the Poplar Hill Intercollegiate for the Presbyterian golf team last weekend. Varner, a Columbus High grad, shot a three-round total of 9-over 225 and helped the Blue Hose to a fourth-place finish overall.
