Earlier this decade, Bryan Eason was playing for Pacelli. Now, he’s the head football coach. Eason, who graduated from Pacelli in 2002, becomes the fourth Pacelli coach this decade and replaces Jeff Battles, who accepted the Hardaway coaching job in February. Eason, who is 23-years-old, spent the last two years as the defensive coordinator.
“It really hasn’t sunk in yet,” Eason said. “I am really excited about this opportunity. I am ready to get to work.”
Eason takes over a program that has advanced to the Class A playoffs each of the last six seasons. The Vikings advanced to the quarterfinals in 2007.
Pacelli principal Avery Hanna was impressed with Eason’s work ethic. He also said eight or nine candidates were considered for the opening.
Never miss a local story.
“He is a very hard worker,” Hanna said. “He is looking out for the best interest of the kids. He works hard to get the best out of the kids.”
Chris Garner, who is the softball coach, will become the new athletic director.
