Ready for a little chill in the air?
The high temperature in Columbus may drop all the way down to 93 during the last couple of days of the Little League 11-12-year-old All Stars State Tournament, which starts today at the American Little League fields at Double Churches Park and runs through Friday.
Until then, though, it will be just plain hot. Today’s high is expected to be 98.
As for the upcoming week: “The temperature could be anywhere from 93 up to 96 during the week,” says National Weather Service Meteorologist Robert Garcia.
Never miss a local story.
After this weekend, there will be a 30 percent to 40 percent chance of rain daily through the end of the tournament.
Those attending the tournament on Double Churches Road should be prepared, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has these tips:
-- Drink a lot of fluids, two to four glasses of cool liquid per day. Water is best for quenching a thirst. Don’t wait until you’re thirsty to drink.
-- Choose lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing.
-- Wear a hat.
-- Put on a sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher 30 minutes before going out in the sun.
-- Young children, senior citizens and people who are overweight need to be extra careful.
-- After the games, go somewhere with air-conditioning to cool off.
