Carver defensive lineman Gabe Wright added another honor to his list of achievements on Monday when he was named as a Parade All-American.
The 6-foot-3, 275-pound senior also earned Ledger-Enquirer All-Bi-City Defensive Player of the Year and Under Armor All-American honors during a senior season that saw Carver go 13-1 and allow an average of six points per game.
Wright is one of three Georgia players on the Parade All-American team, joining Kell defensive back Brian Randolph (6-0, 180) and Thomas County Central defensive lineman Ray Drew (6-5, 255), who appears on the cover of the issue that will appear in Sunday’s newspaper.
Wright is scheduled to announce his college choice at 1:40 p.m. on Wednesday with Carver’s signing day ceremony to be broadcast live online at ledger-enquirer.com/signingday and on ESPNU. He is expected to chose between Auburn, Tennessee and Alabama. Teammate Isaiah Crowell, ranked by ESPN as the nation’s top running back, will announce his decision between Georgia and Alabama at 1:35 p.m. as part of the ceremony.
