The Columbus Lions announced on Monday the re-signing of defensive lineman Franklin Lloyd and defensive back Anthony Merritt.
Lloyd (6-foot, 300 pounds) was a key player in last season’s Southern Indoor Football League title run. He finished with a league-best 9.5 sacks and 12.5 tackles for a loss and was named a first-team All- SIFL selection.
Merritt (6-foot, 215 pounds) had six interceptions and two fumble recoveries, both for touchdowns, last season, led the team with 280 return yards and scored five touchdowns on offense.
The Lions also announced the entire 2010 coaching staff would return intact under coach Jason Gibson: co-defensive coordinators Brett Wink and Brandon Reed, offensive line coach Ed King, director of team services Fred Williams, and quality control members Justin Jefferson and Charles McLochlin.
Players report for training camp March 1, and the Lions host the North Georgia Bulldogs in a non-league scrimmage at the Civic Center on March 13.
