NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — The West Georgia (Columbus) Dixie Majors team won its first two games in the World Series.
West Georgia beat South Boston, Va., 11-2 on Saturday, and Terrebonne Parish, La., 5-4 in 15 innings on Sunday.
In the first game, Mitchell Donahue was the winning pitcher. He gave up two hits and struck out eight in 4 2-3 innings. Lindsey Short, Spencer Harvey and Blake Meadows all had 2-RBI doubles. Cal Baker had three hits and two stolen bases. In the second game, Austin Whitlock picked up the win with six scoreless innings. He had seven strikeouts.
Baker drove in the go-ahead run in the top of the 15th. Meadows earned the save.
West Georgia's Monday night game was postponed until Tuesday at 11:30 a.m.
If it wins, West Georgia would play against Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.
West Georgia needs three more wins to win the championship.
