Carrollton, Ga. — Columbus State scored four unearned runs in the eighth inning to rally past West Georgia 10-6 on Wednesday afternoon at Cole Field.
Trailing 6-5, CSU opened the inning with Jake Lepchitz reaching on an error and going to second on a balk. Eric Skinner doubled to left center to tie the game.
Two outs later, Thomas Morrison singled to center, scoring Skinner. Wes Adkins followed with a two-run homer to give the Cougars a 9-6 lead.
Tyler Baughman gave CSU an early 3-0 lead with a three-run homer in the second, his second homer of the season, off starter Preston Lowther.
Aaron Beasley his his third homer of the season to give the Cougars a two-run lead, 5-3, in the fifth.
David Lane (2-1) pitched two scoreless innings of relief to earn the win for CSU.
