The Columbus State women’s basketball team lost its Peach Belt Conference opener and its second consecutive game on Saturday, falling 45-38 to USC-Aiken (9-2, 3-0) at the Lumpkin Center.
CSU (5-2, 0-1) got a team-best 13 points from Chatil Bradford in her first full game back since suffering an ankle sprain in an exhibition on Nov. 8.
The Cougars led 7-2 inthe opening minutes of the game, trailed 25-22 at halftime and briefly tied the game at 33 in the second half before USC-Aiken pulled away.
“Basically it came down to intensity and energy,” said CSU forward Dominique Gilbert, who had 11 points and two rebounds. “I felt like we lacked on energy and intensity at the beginning of the game. If we would have probably came out with the energy in the first few minutes, we could win the game.”
