AUBURN, Ala. — We're drawing ever closer to kickoff of today's game between Auburn and Florida Atlantic. Before it starts, here are a few pregame notes from Jordan-Hare Stadium.
- Not surprisingly, Avery Young will make his third straight start at right tackle for Auburn in place of Patrick Miller, who has not been with the team the past two weeks due to undisclosed off-field issues. However, head coach Gus Malzahn said earlier this week that Miller had taken reps with the first-team offense, so it will be interesting to see if Miller makes an appearance in tonight's game if it gets out of hand.
- The Tigers made two other changes to their starting lineup. One has Ricardo Louis sliding into Quan Bray's spot at receiver. The other shift was made defensively, with Jake Holland returning to the starting lineup at middle linebacker after a one-week absence. Kris Frost started last week versus Texas A&M after Holland missed most of the week's practices due to a concussion.
- There was only one alteration to Florida Atlantic's starting lineup, with Reggie Brown lining up at cornerback in the spot normally manned by Sharrod Neasman.
- The temperature was 64 degrees one hour before kickoff, with a light breeze accompanying sunny and clear skies.
And for my final (official) thoughts before the two teams tee it up, watch another standup by me on Pat Dye Field. (If nothing else, hopefully you can appreciate my "sweater-over-collared-shirt look." And yes, I'm repping a beard for the first — and likely only — time this year. Hey, it's getting cold, y'all.)
