AUBURN, Ala. — The famous oaks may no longer be standing at Toomer's Corner, but thanks to one local charity, you might be able to keep a small piece of the trees for yourself.
Even better, it would go toward a good cause.
Auburn's campus branch of United Way is selling limited edition, framed and matted photos (15 X 17 inches) to raise funds for the charity. The photo features a collage of the famous Auburn oaks, a snapshot of the memorial dedicated to the trees, as well as shots of campus and a listing of the accomplishments in the football team's storied history. The most distinctive part, however, is that a piece of the oak trees is insetted into the matting at the bottom frame.
There will only be 1,000 produced and will sell for $99 each, as the United Way hopes to meet its goal of raising $140,000.
