AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn hosts Georgia in the latest edition of the Deep South's Oldest Rivalry on Saturday afternoon. With a little more than 27 hours until kickoff, let's take a look back at the best Tigers'-related content to be had earlier in the week.
This cites the best quotes, stories and videos from Sunday-Thursday. With that in mind, this is supposed to be a short and breezy read, hitting on (what I consider) the highlights.
BEST QUOTESHead coach Gus Malzahn on the team's run-heavy play-calling in the past two games, which has seen them throw just 16 times:
“It goes back to building around your strengths. Whatever your strengths are, that's what you play to. If you're able to be successful, you keep doing it. Football is not a complicated game. A lot of people make it complicated, but you do what you're good at. Right now, we're good at running the football.”
Junior defensive tackle Gabe Wright on how the mood around campus has improve since last season:
"The teachers' attitudes are better. The bus drivers' attitudes are better. I guess what I'm trying to get at is that everybody's attitude is better. There's not much bad that can come from winning. It's a new day here. We're blessed to be at this point and we just can't wait to get that next opportunity to go out (and play)."
BEST STORIES"personal" for all of them.
The Tigers believe the Bulldogs will present problems both offensively and defensively this weekend. With quarterback Aaron Murray and tailback Todd Gurley, Georgia owns one of the most balanced offenses Auburn has seen this season. Defensively, the Bulldogs, while young, might be "the best" defense it has faced this season, according to offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee. As one Tiger said earlier this week, the team knows Saturday "isn’t going to be a cake walk by any means."
