AUBURN, Ala. — It was impossible to overlook Ricardo Louis' all-around efforts in Auburn's victory over Georgia — most notably, of course, on his go-ahead, 73-yard touchdown catch.
His performance caught the eye of the Paul Hornung Award committee, which added the sophomore receiver to its weekly honor roll on Monday. Louis set career-highs in receiving yards (131), carries (five), rushing yards (66) and all-purpose yardage (197). The lion's share of his receiving yardage came on his spectacular touchdown catch, which was tipped in the air by Georgia's Josh Harvey-Clemons and into the waiting arms of Louis. The Miami native then tipped it to himself before reining it in and running untouched into the end zone to put the Tigers back on top for good in the 43-38 thriller in the Deep South's Oldest Rivalry.
The Paul Hornung Award is given annually to the player deemed the most versatile in college football. The winner will be honored on Jan. 28 in Louisville, Ky.
