AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn had eight different players field punts at Tuesday's practice: Star Robenson Therezie, cornerback Jonathon Mincy, safety Jermaine Whitehead and receivers D'haquille Williams, Quan Bray, Ricardo Louis, Gray King and Marcus Davis.
Coach Gus Malzahn said no player has distanced himself from the rest of the group through the first four practices.
"We got a pretty long list of guys that want to have the opportunity to do that," he said, "and so this spring will be good to see who comes up on that area."
Of greater concern to the Tigers' coach is replacing a pair of three-year starters in kicker Cody Parkey and punter Steven Clark.
"We’re trying to put them through as many game-like situations as we can with the pressure on and all that during the spring," Malzahn said of the expected successors, a freshmen duo comprised of kicker Daniel Carlson and punter Jimmy Hutchinson. "But both of them ... are talented. It’s just a matter of getting experience."
