AUBURN, Ala. — On Friday, Auburn coach Gus Malzahn confirmed that true freshman running back Racean Thomas was involved in a "minor" auto accident as he was driving back to Auburn on Thursday.
"He practiced today without any limitations," the coach said.
Malzahn did not provide any specifics about a possible injury for Thomas, but according to East Alabama Sports Today, anonymous sources close to the player reported he suffered a wrist injury. Thomas was at practice Friday and did not show any signs of being hurt.
Named Alabama's Mr. Football last season after running for 2,211 yards and 32 touchdowns, Thomas is expected to push for immediate playing time despite joining a crowded Auburn backfield which includes two seniors (Corey Grant and Cameron Artis-Payne), a redshirt freshman (Peyton Barber) and another fellow Class of 2014 signee (Kamryn Pettway).
