AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn fans could be seeing another Stephen Davis on the Plains soon.
Stephen Davis Jr., the son of former Tiger running back Stephen Davis, committed to Auburn on Monday. Davis Jr. revealed the announcement on his personal Twitter account.
"I have officially committed to Auburn University!" he tweeted. "I would like to thank my parents, my coaches and The Lord!"
Davis Jr. is a four-star athlete in the Class of 2016, with the Tigers recruiting him as a safety. At 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds, he fits the mold of what Auburn's coaching staff is looking for as it tries to bring in taller, more athletic defensive backs. A Dutch Fork (Irmo, S.C.) High School product, Davis Jr. picked Auburn over a slew of other offers, including in-state schools South Carolina and Clemson as well as SEC powers Florida and Georgia.
The Tigers now have four commitments for the 2016 recruiting cycle: Davis Jr., receiver Nate Craig, running back Jalin Buie and tight end Landon Rice.
With Davis Jr.'s pledge, Auburn moved up to No. 4 in 247Sports' team rankings for 2016.
