AUBURN, Ala. — Two players were held out of Auburn's first scrimmage of the fall for precautionary reasons on Wednesday.
Both players — offensive lineman Chad Slade and defensive lineman Devaroe Lawrence — also sat out Tuesday's practice session. Slade, the presumed starter at left guard this season, isn't expected to miss much more time, though.
"He's fine. He just got a little banged up," Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said. "Fall camp, a lot of times, especially with the guys we have a lot of information about, you just want to be smart."
Lawrence, a defensive tackle who transferred in from Georgia Military College, was in a similar quandary.
"That's the same situation," Malzahn said.
One player who remained on the sideline Tuesday was back in action on Wednesday: cornerback Trovon Reed.
