AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn is getting ever closer to deciding on its quarterback strategy for the season opener.
But the Tigers aren't ready to announce anything publicly just yet.
"Well, like I said last time, we'll have a plan," coach Gus Malzahn said following Thursday's practice. "Me and (offensive coordinator) Rhett Lashlee will get together this weekend and we'll go from there."
Malzahn said both signal-callers took reps withe the first-team offense during Thursday's session. While Johnson is expected is start in the season opener, Malzahn has yet to state that the sophomore will take snaps the first time the offense hits the field in a live game.
Never miss a local story.
But the coach was certain Johnson isn't getting anxious about the situation.
"If I worried about anything about that, we’d have already done it, but we don’t worry at all," Malzahn said. "We’ll have a good plan. Our guys will respond well."
