AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn made no headway in the latest edition of the Amway coaches' poll, which was released Tuesday.
Last week, the Tigers were ranked No. 5. Even after Auburn's 45-21 victory over Southeastern Conference foe Arkansas, it didn't change their ranking, as it remained at No. 5.
Along with Auburn, the top four from the initial coaches' poll held, with Florida State coming in at No. 1, followed by Alabama, Oklahoma and Oregon, respectively. After Auburn, Michigan State (No. 6), Ohio State (No. 7), Georgia (No. 8), Baylor (No. 9) and Stanford (No. 10) rounded out the rest of the top 10.
With 1,289 points, the Tigers are 69 points behind the fourth-ranked Ducks, which received 1,358. Auburn is 148 points ahead of No. 6 Michigan State (1,141).
The SEC, as is customary, was well-represented in the poll; aside from Alabama, Auburn and Georgia, the league had five other teams ranked in the top 25: LSU (No. 12), Texas A&M (No. 13), Ole Miss (No. 17), South Carolina (No. 21), Missouri (No. 22).
Florida (84 points) and Mississippi State (72) were in the "also receiving votes" category.
