TUSCALOOSA -- Alabama coach Nick Saban and wife Terry distributed more than $440,000 to 125 organizations during their eighth annual Nick’s Kids luncheon on Thursday inside Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Since arriving in Tuscaloosa back in 2007, the Saban’s have donated more than $4.6 million through Nick’s Kids.
“We have a tremendous amount of appreciation for all the people who work everyday and give their lives to helping the kids,” Saban said. “Those are the people that really should be the heroes here today.”
Along with Saban and other Alabama officials, fifteen Tide players signed autographs for children including: Arie Kouandjio, Brian Vogler, Jalston Fowler, Landon Collins, Geno Smith, Blake Sims, Robert Foster, Jarrick Williams, Derrick Henry, Dalvin Tomlinson, Christion Jones, Maurice Smith, Ryan Kelly, DeAndrew White and Austin Shepherd.
“I think our players understand the importance of giving back to the community,” Saban said. “It speaks as a part of leadership to try to affect other people and help them, to care about them and to serve them. That’s something that we try to teach our players.”
