Since reporters aren’t allowed to talk to freshmen or watch summer workouts, one must rely on the opinions of others on who is standing out from the group.
Alabama’s 2015 recruiting class has been on campus for more than a month, and are already getting acclimated to the program and training regime.
“A bunch of freshmen have (caught my attention),” Tide linebacker Reggie Ragland said. “I know Kendall Sheffield has, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Ronnie Harrison. And then on the offensive side, Damien Harris and Calvin Ridley. I think those guys will get a shot of playing this year.”
Ragland was specifically high on Sheffield and Fitzpatrick. Ragland believes Sheffield and Fitzpatrick, both five-star prospects, could be difference makers at some point.“If Kendall keeps doing what he’s doing, Kendall’s going to win some ballgames for us,” Ragland said. “And Minkah’s going to be a very physical guy. Both of them are quiet as can be, but don’t let that fool you.”
Tide running back Kenyan Drake said he’s been impressed with the entire class.
“They’ve really come in with hunger and with a lot of will to learn from the older classes that’s been here,” Drake said. “And they’ve definitely take on leadership roles to understand that this is a very important year and every year is moving forward to continue the process and continue the legacy that other players have left in front of them.”
