ATHENS, Ga. -- Police say a thief has stolen framed copies of the College Football Hall of Fame induction certificates for legendary University of Georgia athletes Herschel Walker and Fran Tarkenton and former coach Vince Dooley.
The Athens Banner-Herald reports that someone stole the documents, which each included a photograph, from Sanford Stadium.
Police said they went missing from a wall in the UGA Lettermen’s Club between 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and 7:15 a.m. Wednesday.
Tarkenton played quarterback at Georgia from 1958 to 1960, and later with the Minnesota Vikings.
Never miss a local story.
Walker, a Bulldog running back, won the Heisman Trophy in 1982.
Dooley served as Georgia’s head coach for a quarter-century and led the team to a national title in 1980.
