ATHENS - Georgia could still add a defensive back to the 2012 signing class, but in the meantime it continues to add at that position for 2013.
Steven Nelson, currently at College of the Sequoias, a junior college, committed on Thursday to the Bulldogs. Nelson played at Northside-warner Robins High School, committed to Division II Carson-Newman, then ended up at junior college.
Nelson is listed at 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds. He told Dawgs247.com that he plans on graduating next December and enrolling at Georgia for spring of 2013. Nelson will have two years of eligibility at Georgia.
He becomes the third defensive back commitment for 2013, joining safety Tray Matthews and cornerback Shaq Wiggins. (Both are high school players.)
Never miss a local story.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs could add another commitment this weekend: Mario Alford, the Georgia Military College freshman, is visiting UGA and hoping for an offer. Alford can play cornerback and would be eligible to play this fall.
