ATHENS - Georgia continues to prepare for the post-John Jenkins/Kwame Geathers era at nose tackle.
DeAndre Johnson, a junior at Northgate High School in Newgate, committed on Tuesday to sign with Georgia as part of its 2013 recruiting class.
Johnson is rated a three-star prospect by Dawgs247.com, is listed at 6-foot-3 and 310 pounds.
The Bulldogs also are planning to re-sign Chris Mayes, who signed last year and ended up at junior college. Mayes, listed at 6-4 and 330 pounds, could play nose or end.
Jonathan Taylor, who signed earlier this month, is expected to compete for playing time at nose tackle behind Jenkins and Geathers in 2012. Another signee, John Atkins, can also play nose tackle.
Jenkins will be a senior, while Geathers will be a redshirt junior. The team also has Mike Thornton, who will be a redshirt sophomore in 2012.
