The luxury of a big signing class is that a team can absorb a few injuries. And Georgia is absorbing them, even before preseason practice begins.
Freshman safety Paris Bostick, who had as chance to compete for playing time, will instead redshirt this year after undergoing toe surgery. The team said that Bostick, who is from Tampa, Fla., had surgery recently to repair a "chronic left great toe injury."
Bostick enrolled at Georgia this summer. He was a three-star prospect out of Plant High School, the alma mater of Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray and former Georgia tight end Orson Charles.
Earlier this month, cornerback Reggie Wilkerson had knee surgery and will also take a redshirt this season. Wilkerson impressed the team during spring practice, after enrolling early, and was very likely to play this season.
Georgia signed 33 players this year, 18 of them on defense, and eight defensive backs.
