Georgia linebacker Leonard Floyd adds another position
ATHENS -- Leonard Floyd has not two, but three positions to play this fall.
On Georgia's depth chart, Floyd is listed as both a co-starter at outside linebacker and inside linebacker. On Tuesday, defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt also said Floyd will see time at the star position.
“Leonard is going to play some inside linebacker, he’ll work some at outside linebacker. He’ll work some at our star position in nickel. We’re very fortunate to have a guy with the ability to multiple things like that," Pruitt said. "The good thing about Leonard is he can make everybody else right. Until we figure out the other pieces to the puzzle he’s going to do all three.”
Floyd is someone that was expected to move all over the field to begin with, though this now confirms Pruitt is thinking up packages with Floyd in the star spot. He has seen time in a similar role in previous seasons so this won't be something completely foreign to him.
“Leonard is a very versatile player. He can move around. He’s smart, too. He understands the defense," outside linebacker Lorenzo Carter said. "Coach Pruitt can drop him anywhere and he won’t miss a beat.”
Floyd had 55 tackles and a team-high six sacks in 2014.
