St. Augustine, Fla. — Columbus State rolled over Flagler 4-0 on Sunday to win its fifth straight Peach Belt Conference championship.
CSU shared its first PBC title with Clayton State in 2005 but have won the title outright for four straight seasons.
This was CSU’s third PBC title of the fall. Both of the cross country teams also won conference crowns.
Heading into Sunday’s match, CSU held a half-game lead over Armstrong Atlantic.
Stephanie Parrish got the Cougars off to a strong start with a pair of first-half goals.
Parrish got her first goal in the 26th minute of play as she beat the defense and dribbled in one-on-one on keeper Christie Ruether before making the shot.
Kate Walton gave CSU a 2-0 lead about 10 minutes later with her fourth goal of the year.
Parrish followed less than a minute later with her 10th goal of the season,Kayla Brown scored her first goal of the season in the 54th minute.
CSU will host Montevallo Tuesday at 6 p.m. in a first-round PBC tournament game.
