This year’s edition of the Backyard Brawl turned ugly quickly.

The Central Red Devils made short work of the Smiths Station Panthers in a game that was 48-0 at halftime. Senior wide receiver Justyn Ross had two touchdowns in the opening 24 minutes of play, one on a 10-yard touchdown reception and the other on a 45-yard punt return for touchdown.

Quarterback Peter Parrish also came up clutch for the high-powered offense as well, throwing three touchdowns in the victory.

The victory gives the Red Devils nine straight victories over rival Smiths Station, which is still seeking its first win of 2017.

Central (4-0, 2-0) moves forward with a home region matchup against Opelika Friday. Smiths Station (0-5, 0-3) has a bye week before going to Prattville on Oct. 6.
