MONTEVALLO, Ala. — A new burial ground for military veterans could will be accepting burials by next fall.
The 479-acre Alabama VA National Cemetery was named by the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs on Monday. It is located next to American Village. A VA spokesman said the cemetery will be dedicated in mid-summer.
Quincy Whitehead, a former director of the Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida, was named cemetery director in January.
