Carver High's Isaiah Crowell has scored two touchdowns and Byron Key, Jeremiah Pitts and Cequanti Ford have each added a touchdown as the Tigers defeated Spencer 34-6 on Friday at A.J. McClung Memorial Stadium.
Isaiah Crowell scored on a 4-yard run with 49 seconds remaining in the quarter and Carver's Jerome Williams intercepted a Spencer pass on the first play of the Greenwave's next possession and carried it to the Spencer 2. Byron Key scored on a 2-yard run on the next play.
Crowell scored again with 9:43 left in the second quarter, this time on a 6-yard run. Siale Piuala, who had hit his first two point-after attempts, missed his third, leaving Carver with a 20-0 lead.
Pitts scored on a 15-yard pass from Devin Burns and Ford carried in a score with a 19-yard run. Piuala hit both point-after attempts.
Spencer's Tremaine Jackson scored on a 33-yard pass from quarterback Ronick Nathan with 3:15 left in the third quarter.
The game was delayed for about 10 minutes in the second quarter because the stadium's lights had yet to fully turn on.
