Russell County basketball player Rodney Cooper, a rising senior, committed to Alabama on Thursday night and said he is now looking forward to helping the Tide build its recruiting class.
He said he believes some other top recruits will make the commitment to Alabama after they see Cooper and friend Levi Randolph of Bob Jones High committed together on Thursday night. Recruiting site Rivals.com ranks Cooper as the No. 97 prospect in the nation for 2011, and the same list has Randolph at No. 32.
Cooper averaged 20 points and nine rebounds per game for Russell Count last season, was a first-team Ledger-Enquirer All-Bi-City selection and was selected to play in the Alabama All-Star Sports Week's North-South basketball game in Huntsville, Ala., in July.
