HOPE HULL, Ala. — Glenwood could not stop the running duo of Dez Howard and quarterback Drew Owen as the Hooper Colts outscored Glenwood 52-34 Thursday night at Davis Henry field.
Howard scored three touchdowns in the game and accounted for 269 yard rushing for the Colts, who even their season record at 50-5 with their second straight win. Howard got plenty of running help from Owen as he accounted for 161 yards rushing as well, scored one TD rushing and passed for two more. Owen also kicked a 26-yard field goal.
Pacing the attack for Glenwood was junior running back Undriel Copeland as he ran for 209 yards on 23 carries and scored two touchdowns. This was the junior’s first rushing game over 200 yards.
The Colts jumped to a 22-0 first quarter lead and Glenwood had to play catch up the rest of the night. Owen opened with an 8-yard run and then passed to DJ Thomas for another score. Before the first quarter was out, Howard scored his first of three TD’s.
Never miss a local story.
Glenwood, now 3-7, will conclude its season next Friday on the road against Crenshaw Academy in a non-region contest.
