Former Northside softball standout Jade Sasser leads Auburn-Montgomery into the 2014 NAIA world series, which starts Friday at South Commons.
The 10-team, double-elimination tournament will run through May 29.
All of the games will be played in the stadium. There will be four games a day for the first three days, three on May 27, two on May 28 and the championship on May 29.
Two teams from the Southern States Conference are in the field, In addition to AUM, William Carey also qualified.
AUM, which is the No. 2 seed, receives a first-round bye and will play at 4 p.m. Saturday. LSU Alexandria is the No. 1 seed and will play at 7 p.m. Saturday.
In games on Friday, No. 7 Lindsey Wilson plays No. 10 College of Idaho at 10 a.m., followed by No. 8 Oklahoma City playing No. 9 Simpson at 1 p.m., No. 5 Reinhardt facing No. 4 St. Gregory at 4 p.m. and No. 6 William Carey playing No. 3 Olivet Nazarene.
Sasser, who didn't play for AUM in the NAIA world series last year due to an injury, This season, she is batting .317 with 38 hits (nine doubles and five home runs) and 31 RBIs.
All tournaments passes are $25 for adults and $15 for children. Daily tickets are $7 and $5. There is no admission for children 5-and-under or students with an ID.
