Columbus High quarterback Greg Bingham has accepted an offer for preferred walk-on status at Georgia.
Bingham, a 2009 preseason Ledger-Enquirer Dandy Dozen selection, missed most of his junior year with a broken leg and was set back as a senior when he suffered an ankle sprain in the first game of his senior year.
“I've worked pretty hard this whole time, and it's finally paid off,” Bingham said. “It's really satisfying, and I'm really happy just to be able to play football at the next level. I'm looking forward to working hard, getting a chance to compete and playing for a great program.”
As a preferred walk-on, Bingham will be a full member of the team, but one without an athletic scholarship. He had already been accepted to Georgia and qualifies for a Hope Scholarship.
Bingham traveled to Athens, Ga., on Saturday to watch a scrimmage and tell coaches he would accept their offer.
