As I was getting ready to watch the Louisville-Kentucky football game, I wondered to myself if we'd see former Hardaway QB Marcus Smith play at all today.
But while reports show Smith has been taking snaps at QB as recently as a week or two ago, it appears he is being moved over to linebacker. His profile on the Louisville page lists the 6-3, 234-pound freshman as such, a least.
Maybe it's not so strange considering his size and athleticism, but I have to wonder how he's taking to it. I know Louisville is pretty deep at QB with three people listed on the depth chart, another freshman QB and Smith not listed. Check out the depth chart for today's game here . Notice Smith isn't listed as a linebacker, either, but nowhere is he listed as a redshirt.
When I talked to Smith last season and on national signing day in February, he said finding a school that would keep him at QB was paramount and that Charlie Strong wanted him to be a QB there.
From my national signing day story:
“I'm just glad that I'm going to a school that I know I'm going to play quarterback with," Smith said.
Smith threw for more than 1,800 yards passing and 14 touchdowns while rushing for four more scores, earning second-team Ledger-Enquirer All-Bi-City honors for the 2009 season.
