A pair of local basketball players could be named to the McDonald's All-American Game lineup tonight when the rosters are announced on ESPNU at 5 p.m. tonight.
Russell County's Rodney Cooper and Harris County's LaMichael Fanning were nominated by their coaches this season, putting them into the pool to be picked for annual all-star game, which will be played March 30 in Chicago and televised nationally on ESPN.
Never miss a local story.
Cooper is averaging 31.7 points and 10.2 rebounds a game leading into the Warriors' debut in the Class 5A Area 4 tournament tomorrow night. He signed with Alabama in November and is considered one of the country's top senior players.
I don't have any season stats for Fanning, but it's worth noting he is considered one of the country's top defensive linemen and recently signed to play football for Alabama.
I'll be keeping an eye on the announcement, so check back here tonight to find out if they make the cut.
