Update your Columbus Lions calendar; the team will be hosting the Mobile Bay Tarpons on April 16.
I know, I know. If you saw today's paper this is old news to you. But I took a rare - nay, nearly extinct - three-day weekend and just wanted to make sure I got this posted for any regular readers of the blog after I got back.
A hole in the Lions' schedule opened up a couple of weeks ago when it was announced the Lafayette Wildcatters had folded for the 2011 Southern Indoor Football League season because it couldn't afford Louisiana's apparently expensive workers comp insurance.
Lions managing partner John Hargrove told me the Lions very much wanted to bring in another SIFL team rather than get a team from a less-competitive league to walk into a blowout. And it looks like they got that from the Tarpons, who like the Lions are 2-1 overall.
And if you missed it, here's a link to the the story we got from the kind folks at the Albany Herald on the Lions' 46-26 loss at the Albany Panthers on Saturday night.
