From this rivals.com article...
"This weekend definitely increased my interest in Georgia; after my visit today I left with a different feeling about Georgia and they have definitely earned a spot in my top five - Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, Georgia Tech, and Florida," admitted Jenkins. "Georgia is definitely a place that I could see myself playing for four years."
At my last count, Jenkins had somewhere in the neighborhood of two dozen FBS scholarship offers. It should be an interesting courtship next year, and one that's not likely to end any time soon as his Harris County coaches have told me he plans on waiting until national signing day (Feb. 1, 2012) to announce his decision.
Curry picks up offer from Southern Miss
Central-Phenix City tight end Jonathan Curry (6-3, 235) has been getting a lot of interest, as I most recently wrote about in this notebook story, and has added a scholarship offer from Southern Miss to his list.
He now has offers from Arkansas State, Louisville, Western Kentucky and Stanford, too.
Curry told me about a week ago he plans on attending some other camps, including at least one at Louisville, this summer and that he doesn't have any plans on making a commitment any time soon.
Other upcoming signings
Wednesday marks the first day of the NCAA open signing period for basketball, and the Columbus area already has a few slated to sign.
Coming up this week...
Rachel LeRoy, Columbus soccer, will sign with Berry College
Rebecca Lee, Columbus soccer, will sign with North Georgia College and State University
Brea Walker, Pacelli basketball, will sign with Columbus State
Joseph Reese, Pacelli basketball, will sign with Valdosta State
Brandon Miller, Pacelli basketball, will sign with Shorter College
As is tradition, I suspect several other signings will pop up on short notice this week and between now and the end of the basketball signing period on May 18. I'll keep you posted when one does. If you're wondering, here's a list of the NCAA signing dates.
