Locals at Player Development event
The 2009 Team South Player Development Hockey Tournament was held the weekend of May 30th in Decatur, Ala.
The tournament is conducted each year by the Southern Amateur Hockey Association. Players from youth hockey teams throughout the Southeast participated in tryouts and were then divided into teams for the weekend tournament.
Coaches Billy Cox and Brad Lee from the Columbus Hockey Association were selected to lead the 10-12-year-old peewee black team and 7-9-year-old squirt red team, respectively.

Lee’s red squad lost in a shootout in the championship game. Cox’s black team captured the peewee championship with a 2-1 victory.
Columbus players Colin Tate and Jake Cox scored the two red goals.
Other Columbus players participating in the tournament were peewees Rhett King, Mitchell Dennis and Michael Dennis and squirts Logan MaGahee, Konner Soskin, Hannah Davis, Chase Brandenburg, Brice Caffey, Tara Lee, Shayna Lee and Ian Baugh.
