ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. -- A pair of former Brookstone golfers are in the top five after the first round of the 2015 Georgia Amateur Championship, which is being played on the Seaside course at Sea Island Golf Club.
Parker Derby shot a 3-under-par 67 to finish alone in second place. He is one shot behind Dru Love, who shot a 66 on his home course.
Meanwhile CSU's Robert Mize, the defending champion, shot a 1-under 69. He is in a seven-way tie for fifth.
Travis Williamson (Brunswick) and David Kleckner (Johns Creek) are tied for third at 2-under 68.

Derby played the back nine first and started with four birdies in his six holes. He birdied 10, 11, 13 and 15. He bogeyed the 18th to make the turn at 3-under.
Derby, who plays at Georgia, made six straight pars on the front before bogeying the seventh. He got that shot right back with a birdie on the eighth.
Mize made two birdies and one bogey in his round. He birdied the par-3 third hole and the par-4 14th. His bogey came on the par-4 ninth.
Mize will start his second round at 8:20 a.m. Friday on No. 10, while Derby will tee off at 9 a.m. on No. 1
The other four golfers from Columbus will have some work to do Friday to make the cut, which will come with the low 70 scores and ties. and anyone within 10 shots of the lead.
Cason Hammock shot a 6-over 76 to finish in a tie for 85th. Stanton Schorr is in a tie for 109th after shooting a 8-over 78. Charlie McDaniel and Bobby Brent III are in a group tied for 116th after shooting 9-over 79s.
Columbus' Jason Fober withdrew.
