Youth baseball roundup: American tops Habersham at 9-10 tournament

Columbus’ American team defeated Habersham 16-2 at the 9-10 state tournament on Monday at Britt David Park.

Andrew Tillery got the win for American on the mound, and Tyler Rebber hit a home run as his team picked up a Pool A victory.

In the other Pool A game, East Marietta defeated Cartersville 14-4.

Brycen Jones was the winning pitcher, and Cole Jamison had a home run for East Marietta.

In Pool B, Midway defeated Peachtree City 10-6.

Jalen Davis was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs to lead Midway, while Trevor Dunlap went 1-for-1 with a double and an RBI for Peachtree City.

Warner Robins defeated Walton County 38-5 in the other Pool B game Monday.

Jake Fromm was the winning pitcher and led Warner Robins from the plate, going 5-for-6 with three home runs 11 RBIs.

Aaron Nalepa led Walton County with a 3-for-3 performance and an RBI.

Phenix City reaches state semifinals

The Phenix City 13 Dixie Baseball team moved to the state semifinals with an 11-2 victory over Hueytown on Monday in Dothan, Ala.

Tanner Knowles struck out eight batters for Phenix City, and Lawson Humphries and Chad Silvani each went 3-for-4 at the plate.

The team will face Hueytown again today at 10 a.m. and the winer will face Troy in the state title game later in the day.

Phenix City defeated Westside-Mobile 14-12 in 10 innings on Sunday behind the pitching of Blake Johnson and Silvani. Dylan Benny was 2-for-3 and Reid Nalls was 2-for-5.

On Saturday, Phenix City fell 4-3 to Dothan. Phenix City’s Trey Beck and Humphries went 2-for-4.

Columbus team tops Rockmart

In the 10-11 baseball tournament at Cartersville, Columbus’ American team beat Rockmart 12-4. American will play Toccoa at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Three state softball tournaments are all being held at Warner Robins.

In the 9-10 tournament, Northern beat Oconee County 29-1 in an elimination game. Northern plays another one against Elbert County at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

In the 10-11 tournament, Northern beat Warner Robins 12-0 to advance in the winners bracket. Emily Wynn was the winning pitcher. Northern plays Baldwin at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

In the 11-12 softball, Harris County lost to Madison County 8-0. Harris County played West Point late Monday.
